Thanks for the forecast. The bad weather just seems to continue. Just now I spoke to the librarian before we went on closed circuit TV and he said that it took him two hours to put the library and bookstore back together this morning.

We slowed to 18 knots while the captain reported to the passengers in a TV spot before me that several other vessels in the area were hove to for about 12 hours.

Now, the wind has come around to the North so the stabilizers are handling the rough seas. The ocean surface is beautifully streaked, and when there is sun and moisture, there have been some beautiful rainbows including a complete arc. It also hailed hard this morning while my wife and I were standing on deck, and we had to duck for cover.

While, of course, I enjoy it, the constant movement is very tiring after a couple of days.

Was this storm the same storm that slowed Oasis of the Seas to a crawl?  I cannot wait to see photos and video fo the QM2 plowing through this storm when passengers get them uploaded.  I'd be sitting in the Library taking it all in with a big grin on my face.

Here's a day by day account of the current QM2 crossing in which Captain Bates has stated that the weather encountered was the worst the ship has ever been through.

I do think this crossing will answer any question whether QM2 is a worthy successor to QE2 and worthy of the Cunard name.  Must have been quite a ride!

I think, reading that, should cast away any doubt about whether QM2 is really a liner or knot!  Fantastic, wish I'd been aboard.  I must admit, I cant resist liking the idea of fish & chips in the Golden Lion with the raging Atlantic outside, or a glass of wine in the Chart Room perhaps.

I think she is a liner. She doesn't look much like a small wading bird.

I like being comfortable when I am on a ship, although I don't get seasick I don't really enjoy being thrown around like a rag doll, so I'd like to be on the best-designed ship for rough weather so I think QM2 would be my first choice for a sea voyage at this time of year.

No-one on board here remembers the weather ever being as rough as it has been, so this is very unusual and so is unlikely to be repeated.

but...didn't QE2 experience similar conditions?!
