Sports on QE2
« on: Jan 18, 2018, 07:22 PM »
I played deck tennis, golf shooting (whatever it's called), golf putting, shuffleboard, and deck quoits on QE2. As a child I would've wanted to hit the tennis ball further and harder, if that can count as a super power.

I am not a very sporty person these days.

Here are some photos of me (and my Mum in the last two photos) playing some of the deck games:

First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

The latter two photos in my above post (with my Mum) have poignant memories attached due to a reason mentioned elsewhere on this forum that I don't want to mention here due to likely taking the topic way off topic.

I have also just remembered I played Table Tennis with my parents on Upper Deck, just outside the Grand Lounge, at least on our first trip in August 2003 and may also have played Table Tennis there with the children's club and latterly the teen's club. I have film photos of me and my Mum playing but need to digitise them.

My sister Pia and I played a lot of board games in the Lido around midnight, particularly "Ticket to Ride".

We took the odd look at the jigsaws, but never really gave them a serious go, because we knew we could never finish them in the one cruise (too much else to enjoy!).
