Jason Van Der Sluis Casino 1972
« on: Nov 26, 2024, 09:27 AM »
Jason has recently joined the forum and wanted to share his story:

My name is Jason VanDerSluis I worked on the QE2 in the casino on two three months trips in 1972.

Transatlantic run, Norwegian Fiords and the east coast of the USA down to the Caribbean. I had the greatest time over this six month period and as a 23 year old everything especially NYC was amazing.

My very small claim to fame is a photo of me  on a casino flyer holding a dice stick on the table in the casino, terrible green shirt (company uniform) and a lot of hair. The flyer can be seen in the archives.

I had only started in the industry of January 1972 and had a great run for most of the 4 decades I stayed in the business working allover the world. I am now happily retired and live with my lovely wife and 2 dogs in the south coast of England.

Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me (good or bad)
I was proud to be involved with planning QE2's 50 year conference in September 2017 in Clydebank
