We received information from Derek Carter with the names of the two young women, wearing pink blouses in the back row.

These ladies were Croupiers; the blonde is Joanna Holden-Baker who was at that time my fiancée and the dark haired lady’s name is Gina (Georgina), surname unknown, she hailed from Bristol. Both of them worked at The Sportsman Casino, London.

We received a question from Derek Carter. Does anyone have the start date of when QE2 sailed from Southampton for the Winter 1972/73 Caribbean Cruise?  Plus the end date of the cruise when the ship returned to Southampton

Quote
Regarding the dates of the winter 1972 Caribbean Cruise, I have not been able to gain any further information so if you would be so kind to post a request for help on the forum, that will be greatly appreciated.
I am primarily interested the start and finish dates, i.e. when did the QE2 sail from Southampton and when did the ship return? The ports of call are not of interest.

Thanks again for your kind assistance.

I found an itinerary for QE2's 1972/73 Winter Cruise but not the Southampton dates.

I noticed on the 1972 refit topic

The ship was in Dry Dock for a refit 13 October to 7 November 1972

The information on the refit topic is that she re-entered service with a Southampton to Boston crossing 7 to 11 November, which would suggest 7 November as the first Southampton date. I have also noted in red that the ship left dry dock at 23:59 on 6 November 1972.

Was anyone on during the Winter 72/73 cruise that can remember when the ship returned to Southampton.

The answer is on the forum elsewhere... and no great surprise as to who posted it!

Well done Peter, looks like that could be the date Derek is wanting.

Just goes to show what an amazing information resource we have on the forum.
