Title: Ready for sale : QE2 Story calendars for 2021
Post by: Isabelle Prondzynski on Oct 26, 2020, 10:28 PM
It is that time of year again : The QE2 Story calendars for next year are ready!

This year, we have prepared the following.

Lulu simple standard size calendar

Lulu no longer offers several sizes, nor several templates, so there is a single size available, and all photos are full-page landscape sized pictures.

The calendars can be ordered here :

https://www.lulu.com/en/ie/shop/the-qe2-story-website-and-forum/the-qe2-story-calendar-for-2021/paperback/product-ej9yr7.html

The price per calendar is GBP 8.99 or equivalent in other currencies.

You can order this calendar by logging into Lulu and completing your address and payment details yourselves.

We also have Vistaprint calendars, please see hereunder.

Vistaprint three sizes of calendars

The Vistaprint calendars offer three sizes and the use of several templates, allowing us to combine several pictures on a page to create a pleasant design. More on the available sizes here :

https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/index.php?topic=9481.0

Here are the calendars, all three of them :

An unexpected problem is that these calendars cannot be made available for general sale, but can only be sold to the creator, i.e. to The QE2 Story. As the calendars have already been created and are looking good, we decided to help our members with their orders.

The large calendar costs GBP 20.00.

Here are some images taken from it :

The medium size one costs GBP 13.00 :

And the small one costs GBP 11.00 :

There are discounts available from time to time, and shipping as well as the relevant taxes are added, depending on your location.

Once you have decided which Vistaprint calendar(s) you would like to order, please email details of your choice of calendar(s) and your postal address to :

admin@theqe2story.com

so that we can place the order for you. We shall then tell you how much your order costs, so that you can reimburse us by crediting our Donations account with the relevant amount.

I am very sorry that the calendars have turned out to be so complicated this year! But I think you will not be disappointed when you receive them :) .

The QE2 Story Calendars are now ready for you to order

Isabelle has done an incredible amount of work on designing the QE2 Story Calendars with the winning photos that the Photo Competition has generated throughout the year.

Please read from  the top of the topic  (https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/index.php?topic=9494.msg110769#msg110769) as Isabelle has taken time to explain the two options for ordering either the Calendars direct from Lulu or from Vistaprint, which can be ordered through admin@theqe2story.com

There are regular discount codes from Lulu, such as SPOOKY10 for a 10% discount until 30 October.

We will keep you updated of any other discount codes as soon as we are notified.

I have already ordered one Lulu Calendar but I cannot resist the lovely large Vistaprint Calendar so I will be ordering one of these as well.

I have just had a message from one member, saying that the Lulu link does not seem to work from that particular computer. Is anyone else having the same problem? Lynda, did you manage to get through without difficulty?
Title: Re: Ready for sale : QE2 Story calendars for 2021
Post by: Lynda Bradford on Oct 28, 2020, 05:41 PM
I used the link to Lulu you had provided and didn't have a problem. I tried the link again just now and it is working. But it would be good if other members could check if the link is working for them.  We always appreciate it when members report any problems so that we can fixed them.

The link did not work for me either. Also, when I Google Lulu's website, I can only get to a screen to produce my own calendar. Then, I had received an advert from Lulu in my promotions folder and it takes me to their shop, but there is no search line to look up our calendar or anything else. I have never had a problem accessing their site before, and I have tried it from two different devices.

All Vistaprint orders received so far have been placed and confirmed. If you need information about delivery dates, I can provide it if required. For deliveries within the UK, there are four options available at different prices, and the most economical option guarantees delivery by around 15 November at present.

Vistaprint is offering discounts of up to 30% today and tomorrow, so this would be an excellent time to place an order and even benefit from the economical delivery option as well.

Vistaprint calendars are now 15 % off, so it is a good time to order and be sure you are ready for the new year!

If you would like a calendar to be sent to someone else as a special souvenir, that can be easily done. We would just need their name and address and a contact telephone number.

The large Vistaprint Calendar ordered on Thursday 29 October was delivered today, which was two days before the estimated date for delivery (6 November).

I am absolutely delighted with the Calendar. It was well packaged, in a cardboard box, was in a plastic cover with cardboard over the front page for protection.

I think the quality is very good, with good definition of the photos.

I am so pleased I may order a medium or smaller one as well.  I will post a picture at the weekend.

My calendars arrived today, a full 11 days before the estimated delivery date !  :)

They are awesome ! They were very well packed, the paper is of excellent quality, the colour printing is excellent - no bleed through or overlap of colours, and of course, the photos are superb, being from our photo competitions !

Many thanks, Isabelle ! And thanks to Lynda and Rob !  :)

So glad your Calendars arrived quickly. Looks like Vistaprint are offering a quality service for a quality product.

The Teddies enjoyed looking at the Calendar today and made a "unanimous decision" on their favourite picture.  I wonder why!

Did you take photos? The packaging seems to be quite different from one country to another.

Mine (packed in the Netherlands I believe) was excellent, and the calendars arrived in superb condition.

I didn't, but the package was one of these fold-in, self-adhesive arrangements with an overall self-adhesive lid - which with some careful opening is being re-purposed by my wife for sending some items to a friend!

I am really pleased with the Lulu Calendar that I received yesterday.

The Calendar photos are in a nice gloss finish, which looks good and perhaps could be framed at a later date. Each Calendar page features only one picture, which suites the size of the Calendar. Brum Brum bear and Jasper bear get a page all to themselves. Andreas Busecke's photo Nutshell on the back pack of the Calendar is a nice touch. Just as you think you have seen all the photos there is this one to enjoy.

The packaging was a card envelope, which was sufficient for the size and there was no damage.

I like both the Lulu and the Vistaprint Calendars.  Thank-you Isabelle for all the hard work you put in to produce these wonderful QE2 Story products.

Good offers at the moment!

10 % off Lulu calendars (Code : READ10)
Up to 15 % off Vistaprint calendars

I am glad to see that, even with the most economical delivery method chosen, the calendars have been delivered way ahead of the estimated date.

This is a year when many of us wonder how best to procure Christmas presents, given the various degrees of lockdown in operation. Maybe a QE2Story calendar could solve a couple of these problems?

My Calendars (one for me and another for my Dad) arrived a short while ago, well and securely packaged, and well in advance of the 2nd December estimated delivery :) . I will keep them in their plastic wrapper for now, but the front cover looks wonderful with Shipnshore's photo of QE2 at Liverpool!

So glad to read that, Thomas! I must say that I am very happy with Vistaprint so far. The only problem has been the slightly more complicated ordering procedure, but we have found a good solution, and as far as I can see, the quality is excellent. For me, when putting together the calendars, the design options were very helpful. I am also delighted to see that delivery is working well and the packaging is great.

With all these discounts, Has anyone paid full price  ;)
I do wonder how has the uptake been on these and more importantly for the very kind people behind the scenes doing all the hard work.It must have involved  a lot of perhaps unnecessary extra work and also for the funds has there been the possibility to build in a donaton ?
How has Dear Lulo fared, has she been kept busy or chucked to one side as we all went for the personal touch ?

Do you think you might do the same idea or try to revert to the ordering yourself method?
I must say with Vistaprint, over the years they have ALWAYS delivered well before the expected delivery date.
But can l say thanks to the team behind the scenes for the very quick order confirmation details and all the hard work involved.

I would have to check, but without doing so, I think that there has always been a discount on offer, but at very different rates. The 60 % discount is quite exceptional, and I don't expect to see it again this year (but I may be wrong!).

I have kept tabs of the orders, both in Vistaprint and Lulu, and can give you various statistics. I shall try and compile a list in the course of this week. And yes, we have received quite good and generous donations; people have been inclined to round up the reimbursements to the QE2Story, for which we are very grateful.

Quote
How has Dear Lulo fared, has she been kept busy or chucked to one side as we all went for the personal touch ?

Lulu has fared well too, and orders have been coming in quietly and quite regularly. The Lulu price contains an automatic "donation" to the Forum of about 80 pence per calendar, which Lulu pays out to Forum funds on a monthly basis.

Quote
Do you think you might do the same idea or try to revert to the ordering yourself method?

Unfortunately, Vistaprint does not allow anyone other than the creator of the calendar (or other product) to place an order. I had a long "chat" with one of their staff and tried to see whether there was any way around this, but there was not. And so, the only way to make Vistaprint calendars available at all, was to place the order on behalf of the member, and to pay for it while placing the order.

Lulu was reorganised this year and initially withdrew all calendars, much to my shock when I was ready to create them. This is when I started working with Vistaprint. It is only when the Vistaprint calendars were ready that Lulu came back and offered a simple model of calendar, nothing like what we were using in previous years, but quite effective for at least accommodating 12 out of the 29 photos, provided they were in Landscape format. This is how we ended up with a Lulu option as well as three Vistaprint sizes.

Quote
I must say with Vistaprint, over the years they have ALWAYS delivered well before the expected delivery date.
But can l say thanks to the team behind the scenes for the very quick order confirmation details and all the hard work involved.

What is also quite impressive, is that they seem to print as close as possible to the final delivery address. I got some feed-back today from someone who had ordered a calendar in Japan and found that the calendar had been posted there and delivered very soon after the order was placed.

And so, apart from not being able to offer you the possibility of placing your own order, I must say that working with Vistaprint has been very rewarding and satisfying, and I have enjoyed placing the orders for everyone. And of course, we are only about to start December, so there is still plenty of time to place more orders and make sure that everyone who wants one, can have a QE2Story calendar ready for the start of 2021!

These calendars are a great way of honouring the prizewinning photographs of the past year's photo competitions -- all of them excellent in so many very different ways.

Thank you so much, Pete! I am really pleased that you like it.

You have made me blush. But remember that this is the work of so many people, above all those who were lucky enough to have been able to take photos of QE2 during her seagoing days, and then regularly submit photos to the monthly competitions, June and Lynda who set up the polls and declare the prizewinners, the members who come out and vote in the polls, and finally the prizewinners who send the full resolution originals and Rob, who designed the text on the cover page. The calendars would not have been possible without the participation of everyone!

Which is why the cover page says :

Great to see such good sales figures. Also great to see them going to all of the corners of the world.
Looking forward to hanging mine in the new year.

I have just now put up my calendars - one large, one medium, and one small in various rooms in my house. They are indeed awesome and such a great way to have QE2 in view throughout the year !

Isabelle, is it still possible to order calendars ?

If you have not purchased yours yet, please consider doing so. The calendars arrive very quickly after being ordered.

Many thanks to Isabelle for making up our calendars this year !  :)

Yes, I too enjoyed putting up the new calendars today -- I had been looking forward to them for some time!

Yes, the calendars are all still available to order (and will stay available). There are some reductions offered nearly all the time, so this is still a great time to order your calendar(s) if you have not yet done so. As June said, they arrive very quickly and reliably.

I was at mums house last week, and looked at her QE2 calendar on the wall... The large photo was a really lovely one of the queen's room at Christmas with lovely lighting and poinsettias on the tables.  It was a lovely photo of a lovely room on a lovely old ship and it in turn livened up my mum's room in her house

Mine arrived the other day and it's awesome, it really is.

Well done everyone who put it together either by entering the photo competition, voting, managing the process or the actual creation of the calendar itself, and it's distribution.

Worth every penny even at full price.

The whole calendar competition and production of the end product is a fantastic well-oiled machine that we (probably) take for granted. I know how much work goes on in the background producing the final product and  when you actually see the calendar hanging on the wall, it really is a truly professional job.
Thanks to everyone that works so hard to produce something that we are all so happy to buy.
