My research so far tells me that the new, Unofficial, flagship of the British Merchant fleet appears to be.... the British built, British registered, Beautiful Saga Ruby !!

Hi Rosie, nice to speak to you again, She has a 'bit nearly under the bridge' which is good enough, Rob regarding reply 32 of yours just recently , on Ruby's stern she's registered in Valletta, I'm confused on this, how can she be British registered, please put me right on this one, cos I think she deserves that accolade. Pete..

She seems to have changed from London to Valetta in the not too distant past - 2010 maybe.  Oh well.  sigh.

Does anyone know why they'd have picked Valetta in particular for her?

Pete - Yes! An overnighter it was, and Rob had said 'Don't go to bed!'.
She sailed from Dover (her home port?) to Newcastle, sunrise over the North Sea was stunning.
Although a bit too exposed for most of the passengers who ventured through the doorway,
the Bit Nearly under the Bridge was by far the best place to be as we sailed up the Tyne!
Did you get to see the bridge?

I wonder, was she flying the red duster?

She's a great reminder of QE2 - isn't she?!

Rosie, I think one of the photos Bobso is resizing for the forum is a beautiful stern shot, unfortunately it looks like it's the Maltese Cross flying, a bit hard to tell because there wasn't a big wind at the time, (funny how you don't notice these things untill brought to your attention).

I know I am replying to a very old post, but yes she is still flying the "Maltese Cross" as of yesterday
