That's great news, Louis.  Do you know if "under preparations" means, they are currently and actively getting it ready?  Or does that mean they are planning it for some near but future time?

Good news! Just over 5 years since the last time, and to be expected as part of a successful future even though she's not in class/seagoing condition anymore etc - will keep her in good condition for some years yet in her new role and shows how committed they are to her if there were any doubts.
First sailed on QE2 in August 2003 aged 6 years old. Last sailed on QE2 in July 2008. Last saw the seagoing QE2 in person from the decks of QM2, on QE2's last Transatlantic crossing (Eastbound tandem) in October 2008. Visited QE2 in her new life, in Dubai, in January 2020 and August 2022.

Thanks Louis.

This surely is the 'ship to hotel' dry docking - when they blank off openings etc and arrange a way for her to be secured to the dockside.  At both the previous dockings she was still expected to sail again.

Now surely they'll use this to relaunch her?  Especially when she comes out...

I seem to remember we discussed dry dock visits recently and the consensus was that they'd have to do one very soon - and that it would need to be before a high profile launch of the hotel - wasn't it?

Would make sense and is, I would've thought - like you, likely too.

I remember that discussion, the saying "speak of the devil" comes to mind!
