Photo of the month competition - Instruction on how to vote for your favourite photo.

The QE2 Story Forum Photo Competition has got off to a good start with members submitting some wonderful photos of QE2 in Port.

From Wednesday 1 June 2011 Forum members can start voting for their favorite photo (s).  Each member has 3 votes (but please do not vote for your own photo).  The voting is open to all members regardless of whether or not you submitted a photo.

To view the photos submitted by members
Click on the Gallery button from the forum or click on this link
https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/gallery

Choose up to three photos you want to vote for noting photo details (name of photo and name of who has posted it)

In the poll above tick the photos you want to vote for and click on the submit button.

You will not see the results until the voting has closed on 30 June when the winner will be announced.

In the event of a tie Cunardqueen (who suggested this competition) will judge the winner.  If his photo is tied with another member's photo then the Moderator team will judge.

Thank-you for voting.

You can now also post your pictures for the June photo competition : QE2 Interiors, here :

This is fun! I too have voted -- and what a difficult decision is was, with all those great views of QE2 in port...  :D

It was a difficult decision as there are so many good photos.

One more week before the poll closes so if you have not voted yet have a look at the photos in the gallery and vote soon.

It is a fun competition.  Thank-you to Cunardqueen for suggesting it.

Lynda,
I submitted a late entry last week for May's "QE2 in port" competition.  Didn't know if it was allowed and did not see a submission end date.  I noticed my photo not listed in the poll above so my question is, is there a submission cut-off date? And, if so, what is it?

Thanks,
Bob

Sorry Bob you posted too late for the May Competition "QE2 in Port" which ended on 31 May 2011.

Each month we have a different topic.  For June the topic is QE2 interiors, so you still have time to post a photo before 30 June.

Hey Bob - that's a real darn shame!
However, if you are posting the one with you inside QE2 - I'll vote for that!
Oh yes - and by the way, just get it done a.s.a.p, then it'll give me plenty time to work out the intricacies of just how to vote!
It took me three attempts last time - and I still can't fathom out for the life of me what or who I voted for.....
All the very best for next time!

Rosie, I was so sorry to hear that you had problems with voting.  :(

Just in case other members have been having problems voting we have extended the voting until 30 June.

Any suggestions for either improving the instructions or making the competition easier are welcome.

One thing that might help is the direct link into the Gallery where the pictures to vote for have been uploaded :

https://www.theqe2story.com/forum/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=46

You can click into each picture to see a bigger version.

By the way, I love the idea of a calendar containing the prize winning photos!   :D

Hi Everybody!

Some great photos have been turning up on this competition, nothing nothing like a bit of competition to bring the best of everyone's efforts out eh?! Many thanks to everyone who has so far contributed, and to all whoare going to do so too!

The moderating team have received a few messages concerning the competition and how it works, so we apologise that there has been a small amount of confusion. Hopefully Lynda's recent messages clarify everything, but if not please do get in touch, we'd much rather explain it again than have people not able to join in!

As with everything else on the forum the team are always looking at ways to make it even better, and so any sensible suggestions made to the admin team will be considered....

Thanks again to everyone, looking forward to reveiwing and voting on all the entries to this month's competion soon.

Cheers  8)

Yes, Isabelle!
Looking forward to making a collection of calendars already!

Hopefully you mightn't mind a suggestion!
It could be helpful to have the Current month's voting page locked - apart from the voting 'buttons',  and containing:
 - clear, simple instructions
 - the list with voting buttons - as it is
 - alongside each voting button there'd be a thumbnail (and enlarge-able) image,
together with photographer's name.

(I was trying to compare shots of bows etc, and wasn't sure which I'd voted for!
At one point I had four pages open - and possibly rubbed out my votes out in the process!)

Many thanks to everyone concerned!
Rosie.

Thank you, Rosie, for your suggestions.

We have looked into the possibility of including thumbnail pictures, but cannot come up with the technical solution for doing so. Rob should be back soon, and when he has had a chance to settle down, maybe he will think of a way.

We are trying to improve the numbering though -- if you have a look at the June competition, Lynda and I have now numbered our pictures, and think that this will help.

Any suggestions for either improving the instructions or making the competition easier are welcome.

Louis as a result of a member reporting problems with voting we have extended the deadline for voting until the 30 June.  In future months the voting will run from the 1st of the month to the last day in the month to make it easier for everyone.

As this is just the second month for uploading photos and the first month of voting we are interested in hearing if we need to make any adjustments to the instructions to make the uploading photos or voting easier for everyone.

We are currently looking at what has already been suggested and welcome any further comments.
