Apologies for my ignorance... of which I discover new facets every day...  :-[

This video clip says that the interview is with Captain Nicholas Wright.

I looked up all the captains here :

http://www.qe2.org.uk/captains.html

and cannot find anyone by the name of Nicholas Wright. Could he be the identical twin brother of Paul Bates perhaps?   ???

Well, it looks a bit like Paul Wright doesn't it?

It is Captain Wright!

He was in command of Queen Victoria until recently,
and now he is in charge of Queen Mary 2.

QE2 had been waiting alongside in Dubai for nearly 12 years.  Please restore her Lifeboats and Tenders to where they truly belong - she looks naked without them - please spare her this ignominy.

Is he still planning to retire soon or have they persuaded him to stay on?

Captain Wright's retirement is recorded on Mr Shanks blog: We are Cunard
http://wearecunard.com/

All the very best to you, Captain Wright.
Thank you for all the good things that you said and did for us on QE2, Queen Victoria and this year, on QM2.
You made a big difference - and although we'll miss you, after so many years driving ships
safely in and out of ports all around the world - hopefully you'll enjoy a well earned happy and healthy retirement.
