Where the dream started
My first bridge visit, with the nursery, in late July 2005. This is where the dream of going to sea as a deck officer started. I was 8 years old at the time. We were speeding through a warm, calm, and very sunny Bay of Biscay at nearly 28.5 knots en-route back to Southampton after a Mediterranean cruise. QE2's headwind was immense as I was almost blown over when peaking over the leading edge of the port bridge wing whilst standing on the compass repeater platform.
