I wish they'd give her a fresh coat of paint, she looks forlorn with that black mark on her side.

She's very forlorn, sitting in the blistering heat all day, facing away from the sea, at the far end of an empty terminal....

Its a shame that she hasn't spent the last 2 years somewhere where people could properly admire her, even if they couldn't get on board.

What's stopping them I wonder?
A guided tour of the upper decks, bridge, Queen Elizabeth/Mary suites, buffet in the Lido, maybe extra-tarif tea in the Queen's Room or Queen's Grill.  The spa, Steiner, and the book shop could be open for trade, even the Yacht Club for a non-alcoholic lounge.
I imagine something like this would take very little investment to get up and running, with no or very little "conversion" necessary.
With sky-high priority tickets prices of about $108/USD - 70/GBP to the Burj Khalifa tower for nothing other than a view out the windows, a reasonable price to tour QE2 wouldn't seem out of place.

The smudge has lessened, it must have been smoke from a generator as Rob suggested.

Think it might have lessened Chris -
Then thought, 'perhaps the light is different today...'
Then thought, 'maybe the Crew have given her a bit of a touch-up!'
Then wondered about the paler grey patch on her hull, fwd of the smudgy white bit?

If you look at the image right now, there is a "cherry picker" or hydraulic platform alongside the ship, just where the smudge is Smiley

There seems to be a fainter smudge further back today?

Maybe she's being given a new coat of paint?

The 'smudge' is from the exhausts of the huge compressors etc. that they have alongside feeding air conditioned air into her.  As I understand it, some of the exhaust has been blown against her white paintwork.

Yes, I can see a small vessel through the mist.  Black hull.  Does look like a large ocean going tug, but could equally be one of the large yachts?

Peter, the tug's sailed away now!

QE2 is looking just so good this morning.
Let's hope that as the temperature drops,
then others will be allowed to appreciate her for what she is,
and what she represents...
We are so proud of her, others could be too.

This is the most recent image from the webcam near Port Rashid (27.8.2010)
The visibility has been poor, probably due to heat -  42ºC+
