Greetings from CT! I'm so happy to find this website. My husband & I first met the QE2 in the fall of 2004 for a Mediterranean cruise (Brittania Grill). Sadly, our last trip was also hers..... for the Farewell to the British Isles tour (Princess Grill).
While both trips were wonderful, the Farewell trip was so emotional & poignant. Tears welled up at every port departure. I'm a HUGE Anglophile, so the patriotic music really got to me. (And the Beatles cover band was a hoot Smiley
Like many of you, I'm also hopeful that she'll sail again some day, or at least we'll get to visit her in port.
Cheers,
Karen

Welcome, Karen! Great that you found us, and hope you find much to enjoy and many happy memories to share.

You must have been so disappointed when it was decided that QE2 would not be going to Cape Town for the World Cup -- but I am sure there is still plenty of excitement to look forward to, even without her...   Undecided

Perhaps you have happy memories and stories of her earlier calls, and some photos too?

My Mum and sister took a World Cruise leg ending in Durban in 2002, and had a couple of lovely days in South Africa before heading back home.

We have quite a few memories of QE2's final calls to various ports during her Farewell Cruise of the British Isles; you will find them under Passenger and Enthusiast Memories. Please feel welcome to join in the stories being collected there -- and any others too of course!

What a an incredible coincidence Karen.  My son and I were on the Farewell to the British Isles cruise and we're from Haddam, CT as well.  Since there were only about 3 other kids onboard, you probably saw us at some point.  I have to agree the trip was very moving and we had the best time onboard.  Welcome aboard neighbor! Check out my blog link below for some of my pics of the trip.

Take her to sea, Mr. Murdoch. Let's stretch her legs.
