Hello

Have always admired the QE2 since I was very young. I always wanted to go onboard but was never lucky enough.(have been onboard the old QM1 though in Long Beach) My brothers father in law was Chief engineer for a time on QE2 and I still never managed to blag a trip onboard! Will be in Dubai for a few days in Feb and hope to at least see the ship and take some photos...any tips on where to go and get a good view?

Ian

Hello Ian,
Welcome! It's good that you have joined us.
Although you didn't manage to stay onboard, you've certainly come to right place here.
There's lots to find - it's all about our favourite Liner!

There might be Members on the Forum that may be able to help you with the place(s) for photographs
although security will probably dictate where you can go.
Good luck and enjoy the view! QE2 will be well pleased to know that you are a fan!

QE2 facinated me when I was at a young age. I've seen her but that was only the first and only time and that was 10 years ago. If does she come back to the U.K hopefully I will see her again. Hope you will get to see her in Dubai she is a very special ship and to see her in the flesh it does build you up.

Hello Ian.
Just saw your post. If you have not been to Dubai yet the best place to go to see her is by the Heritage Village which is at the mouth of the creek. Port Rashid is near there and you can see the QE2 from the road-side, though she is some distance away but still looks fabulous. This location is also near the Shandiga Tunnel (think I spelt that correctly). If you've already been I hope you did get the chance to see her!

all the best

Welcome aboard Ian!

Maybe your dream visit on board QE2 can still come true, here's hoping.  In the meantime you'll find out exactly what it was like to be aboard by reading all the stories on here!

Have fun!
