Nov 68 : QE2's 1st trip down the Clyde and into Greenock Inchgreen Dry Dock

QE2 in dry dock at the moment but here is an interesting British Pathe film of her entering the dry dock in Greenock for the first time

A nice shot taken from the train passing Inchgreen Drydock with QE2 resident. The tanker in the background is British Argosy - she is alongside the tank cleaning berth in the Great Harbour. The photographer was of the opinion at the time that the tanker was waiting for the dry dock to be vacated.

The shot is a wee bit grainy but it looked to be a bit of a grey day (in Greenock? Surely not!!  )

Hope it is of some interest - just wish I had been able to take some of my own but by the time I arrived on the planet QE2 had been in service for 2 years!!

Wow!   These pics were probably taken about half an hour after she passed me on the other side of the river at Dalmuir. Nice to see some photographic record of that day!
