There's news of ships having to change course in the Caribbean due to Hurricane Earl
Fortunately QM2 will be going North East up the coast, (to Quebec) after calling at Brooklyn, New York
Hope all's fine and dandy with her passengers, specially those doing their maiden transat  Wink Wink

I'm afraid QM2 might be affected by Hurricane Earl....she is due into Brooklyn on Thursday and then heads up the northeastern seabord to Boston, etc and then to Halifax Nova Scotia..... if Earl stays on course, they are predicting he might be touch the Canadian Maritimes... esp. Nova Scotia......she might not get into some of the ports.... Quebec should be ok....here's hoping she stays safe.

Looks like we won't feel the effects of the storm until late Friday/Saturday in the New England region.  Most storm tracking predictions show it staying offshore.  QM2 would be leaving right into the storm or at least alot of whipped up seas, even if the storm passes out to sea.  I doubt they would want the ship in port either with all the high winds.  Anyone not wanting to venture out on QM2, I'll be happy to stand in for you and enjoy the ride!

Take her to sea, Mr. Murdoch. Let's stretch her legs.

Thanks for this both Linda C and Ken

Current NY weather doesn't sound too bad for her docking in Brooklyn.  They're saying partly sunny for the City with showers and some gusts, but out on Eastern Long Island where I am we're supposed to get some interesting surf, so the transit to Quebec could be interesting.

Thanks Peter.  That is a great site and full of information and has been saved as a favorite.  No matter, it appears that QM2 will be running into some seas for most of the next cruise, at least to Quebec.

Not ideal weather - but the kind I would love to sail in!  I wish I could be on QM2 this weekend rather than spending the weekend at home dealing with Earl!

Hey Kathy - Thinking of you all over there - as well as friends doing their Maiden Transatlantic!
News reached here that it's hot hot hot too, in NYC
Hoping that Labor Day weekend could be better than expected!

This was reported on Cruise Critic yesterday:

Queen Mary 2, which is currently sailing across the Atlantic, will arrive in New York as scheduled tomorrow, but the ship will now remain in N.Y.C. until 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 4. As a consequence, its originally planned Saturday call in Newport has been canceled. QM2 will now proceed directly to Boston, where the ship will arrive on Sunday, September 5, as scheduled.

Thanks for this, Scott

An email has just reached me from QM2 - all well on board.
Evidence of whales, dolphins and fog; the sea is calm so far.

Here's an update on Earl, the storm that fizzled.  Despite all the media hype, the northeast escaped the storm, almost completely unscathed, except for some wind and a bit of rain.  In fact, the seas looked incredibly calm on Saturday, despite having a Hurricane come through the night before.  The worst damage from the storm was probably economic, given that this storm coincided with an extended holiday weekend, traditionally the last weekend of summer.
